The Illawarra Legal Centre (ILC) is an independent community legal centre funded by Government to provide a comprehensive range of free legal services to residents of the Illawarra who experience social and economic disadvantage. The Centre has a strong human rights and social justice focus.
Tenants Advocate Covid-19 Position
Part Time 28 hours per week – 9 months fixed term contract (Job-sharing will be considered)
The Illawarra Legal Centre is an independent Community Legal Centre based at Warrawong. The Centre is seeking a Tenants Advocate to be part of our team to:
- Provide advice and information to tenants, boarders/lodgers, and park residents about their rights and obligations
- Assist tenants impacted by Covid-19
- Advocate for clients before the Civil & Administrative Tribunal
- Participate in law & policy reform
- Deliver community engagement programs that target our client base
Training and ongoing support will be provided to the successful applicant.
Aborginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply.
Base salary is SCHADS Award Level 5 or 6 pro rata depending on experience, plus superannuation. Salary sacrificing is also available. Terms and conditions are in accordance with the Illawarra Legal Centre Inc. 2016 Enterprise Agreement.

Management Committee Member
The Illawarra Legal Centre is run by a volunteer management committee. If you are interested in being part of the management committee please contact Truda Gray the Centre Coordinator on 4279 1939.
Once a week, volunteer solicitors staff an evening advice session. At present solicitors are rostered on approximately 3 to 4 times a year. If you are interested in being part of the volunteer team, please contact the Principal Solicitor Phillip Dicalfas on 4276 1939.
Expression of Interest
From time to time we have other volunteers undertaking projects or activities.
The work given to volunteers will offer the volunteer personal satisfaction, potential development of skills, active promotion of a cause and/or recognition of volunteer effort.
Students are encouraged to apply.

Volunteers will not replace paid staff members and the Centre acknowledges its obligation to seek funding to pay for work which is normally undertaken by paid staff.
